Better to Be Loved or Feared free essay sample

Machiavelli, the notable logician of the Italian Renaissance, suggests this conversation starter in this renowned book portion The Morals of the Prince: is it preferable to be adored over dreaded, or the other way around? Machiavelli responds to his own inquiry, contending that a ruler is a lot more secure being dreaded than being adored. Instigating dread upon his subjects with remorselessness will keep them joined together and faithful. The individuals who are frightful of an individual of any authority are progressively disposed not to cross the limit of irreverence, inspired by a paranoid fear of discipline. Beyond question, being cherished is wanted and has a more prominent worth contrasted with being feared.Love has the ability to sustain, bolster and eventually, free; dread confines, denies and detains. Self-improvement and human accomplishment blossom with affection, while dread hampers and devastates potential. Numerous individuals who try to be dreaded really are frightful individuals themselves. They deserve admiration as opposed to procuring it, however they urgently need it no different. We will compose a custom exposition test on Better to Be Loved or Feared or then again any comparative point explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page To permit ourselves to be adored we need to likewise permit ourselves to be helpless. On the off chance that we are dreadful individuals, at that point we may feel that we have to shape a defensive passionate boundary around ourselves and shut out love. When this happens we may go over to others as cold and savage. Simultaneously we might need to have however much control as could reasonably be expected, including power over others. Being adored isn't tied in with relinquishing discipline, or being delicate and fluffy. For me, love implies that the help, guidance, genuine model and support help other people towards opportunity and goodness. It brings regard, imitating and adoration. However there are some in places of intensity and authority, who might deviate, accepting that dread accomplishes more. An authoritarian and unbending supervisor will lead by fear.Fear of the outcomes, for laborers, on the off chance that they can't satisfy their needs, is the manner in which such an individual decides to work. The terrible individuals who need to work for such a despot will fear losing their positions. Those individuals reluctant to offer inventive thoughts, and hesitant to move toward the dreaded individual with even the most straightforward solicitation work under pressure, as stress and disdain construct, nauseated to go to work, yet dreading to do something besides what the manager requests. In such a prohibitive air, the activity will complete, efficiency figures may be reached, yet no one other than this manager will have a lot of delight and satisfaction. Those who are in places of extraordinary significance and force have been exhorted during the time that an air of dread can be their best resource. Celebrated pioneers who utilized dread, while imagining that adoration was an inspirational factor, incorporate Hitler, and Stalin. The verifiable proof of them having been dreaded and the consequences of that, says a lot for how dread does without a doubt limit and detain, while denying the human soul. Some famous people ever, who have driven by adoration and not dread, strike a chord as instances of how everything functions. John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King, and Mother Theresa are especially acceptable delineations. They each, in their own particular manner, energized the decency in those they drove, with the goal that people felt upheld in manners that helped them accomplish individual goodness. They have had a colossal after in light of the fact that they were valued and regarded for the love that they appeared to the world. The world profited by their having been in it. These are the sort of individuals who have kept on impacting others long after they were no more. We have seen an incentive in their life. Dread that is held about an individual can lessen when they kick the bucket. We have no motivation to fear them any longer. We may, all things considered, despite everything recollect that individual, yet in a negative way. Either that or we might be thankful that they are no longer near. Love that is held for an individual doesnt lessen when they kick the bucket. In addition to the fact that we remember the individual we keep on encountering the sentiment of affection that we had for them. Along these lines, love beats dread as it very well may be endless. In family life, love assumes the job of a ground-breaking shot which encourages you to defeat all the troubles that go over your way. You can impart every one of your distresses and joys to individuals who truly love you and care for you. In spite of the fact that occasionally severely and anger we may carry on inaccessible yet it doesn't imply that we dont care for one another. Family fights are unpleasant things however are of smallest significance. We ought not think about these couple of disagreeable recollections yet rather we should consider and reflect about the current love inside our relatives. To be adored, be that as it may, sustains mindful, empathy, faithfulness, inventiveness, liberality of soul, kindheartedness, unselfishness and other positive official and giving emotions. It may likewise create envy in a few. In any case, in general, it is a more advantageous relationship to have with other people. Love builds our feeling of prosperity, it lifts our feeling of self-esteem, and it serves to build up our character. It adds to genuineness, and satisfaction throughout everyday life. Taking a gander at the more extensive ramifications of being adored or dreaded, at that point bringing this down to the ordinary degree of family life, working life, and social connections, there is still no uncertainty that it is smarter to be cherished than dreaded. .

To this degree, the novel can be supposed to be ‘polysemic’. Polysemy is the condition of having more than one importance. In spite of the fact that originally begat to portray an etymological wonder, the term has now increased a more extensive significance with the goal that it is additionally applied in talking about authorial purpose in scholarly works. Likewise inferred in the term ‘polysemy’ is the thought that discernments change contingent upon the specific personality of the peruser, and â€Å"that words are multi-ordinal; these attributes can prompt or license cognizant or oblivious disarray. The presence of separating observations and language are clarified through general semantics. Two huge thoughts of general semantics are non-character and unendingness of qualities. Every one of these thoughts is show in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.† (Kasper, 2006, p.273) With the assistance of bits of knowledge offered by Marxist school of abstract analysis, this exposition will contend that social class is a significant disruptive factor in the novel. A focal subject of the novel is its characters’ propensity to firmly relate to their race. Similarly as race isolates, the human will is appeared to defeat this distinction. The choice by Atticus Finch to guard the dark Tom Robinson is the most glowing model. Atticus’ protection of the guiltless Robinson demonstrates an overwhelming errand. In spite of persuading proof to absolve Robinson from his blame, the only white jury convicts him no different. Indeed, even the jail authorities prepare a phony experience and shoot Robinson while he was purportedly attempting to get away. Atticus Finch is an exemption to the regular portrayal of white men †those found in the novel just as they really existed in mid twentieth century America. It request to deconstruct the developmental fixings behind Atticus Finch’s personality, we need to think about his childhood, his persuasions, and so on. From the references accessible in the content, we discover that Atticus Finch was a devout man. He is somebody who admired the expressions of the sacred writings in both letter and soul. He carries indistinguishable mentality and outlook to his work fr om an attorney. For Atticus, the soul is a higher priority than the strict understandings of law †an idea he acclimatized from his own acknowledge of God. The way wherein Atticus raises his own kids is another sign of how his character is built. It is reasonable for expect that treasured qualities and ethics are taught by guardians in their kids. Similarly as Atticus’ kids Scout and Jem are raised without partiality or disdain, he thusly more likely than not been raised a similar way. Along these lines, it is reasonable for guarantee that Atticus’ personality improvement falls outside Marxist scholarly scrutinize, for there is no hint of character with class that is key to Marxism. The exact causes of BPD are not known; it is most often thought to be a combination of genetic (nature) and environmental (nurture) factors. Individual temperaments can predispose a person to develop BPD. What Is Temperament? Temperament refers to our inborn personality traits, which are genetic in nature. The different ways infants interact with and react to their environment and experiences are reflective of their temperament, or behavioral style. Efforts to understand individual differences in personality have occurred throughout history. Despite this, there is no clear consensus as to what the specific temperament traits are called or how they should be categorized. However, there have been some efforts to comprehensively describe temperament; one is the New York Longitudinal Study (NYLS). New York Longitudinal Study (NYLS) In 1956, physicians Alexander Thomas and Stella Chess began The New York Longitudinal Study. Involving 185 children over six years, the authors identified nine distinct temperament traits present in every individual at birth. These traits as defined can be helpful in better understanding of how personality is impacted by genetic factors (or nature). According to Thomas and Chess, these traits are areas of behavioral styles found in every individual. Each temperament listed should be seen as having a range or being a spectrum; some infants are going to be very distractible, others less distractible, and others even less. In the end, there are endless combinations of temperaments, making each infant unique at birth. Nine Temperament Traits From The Origin of Personality: AdaptabilityThe ease with which a child adapts to changes in his environmentActivity LevelThe proportion of active periods to inactive onesApproach/WithdrawalThe response to a new object or personDistractibilityThe degree to which extraneous stimuli affect behaviorIntensity of ReactionThe energy of response regardless of its quality or directionQuality of MoodThe amount of friendly, pleasant, joyful behavior as contrasted with unpleasant, unfriendly behaviorPersistence/Attention SpanThe amount of time devoted to an activity and the effect of distraction on the activityRegularity/RhythmicityThe regularity of hunger, excretion, sleep, and wakefulnessSensory ThresholdThe intensity of stimuli required to evoke a discernible response Temperament Throughout Development In general, temperaments exist as they are prior to birth and are a component of an individual’s personality. Although it is thought that temperaments are genetically determined, personalities as a whole are a combination of temperaments and experiences that shape and influence a person’s development.

Building the Panama Canal Essay - 1697 Words

Known as one of the greatest engineering feats in all of history, the Panama Canal is an essential asset for international trade and travel today, uniting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans across the Central American Isthmus in Panama, Colombia. Its construction required the perseverance, innovation, time and money of at first, France and of second, America. Construction began with Frenchman, Ferdinand de Lesseps at the helm of the project in the early 1880’s; however, dreams of a Central American canal were had as early as the 1500’s with the Spanish and Christopher Columbus. His plan was to dig a sea level canal, similar to a successful one he had made previously. Government Controlled Social Service Essay - 1091 Words

In our Society, We are faced with many social problems, such as Healthcare, unemployment, and housing. Government officials implemented social policies to enhance social welfare by providing assistance for many populations in need. However, low income families (single mothers and the working class) are stigmatized against as the government primarily provides aid for this vulnerable population. Therefore, as social service providers we feel limited with resources for our clients and it prohibits clients from obtaining adequate assistance needed. If no governmental safety net programs existed, many members of these groups would not even be able to meet their survival needs, such as food, medical care, income and housing† (Jansson, 2009, p.5). My personal opinion is the government automatically assumes that the individuals in vulnerable populations chose their way of life without making an effort to advance themselves. However, assumptions should not be made as we cannot determine all vulnerable groups to encounter the same ordeal, which led them to their circumstances. The founder of Samsung group noticed, that the product of his company has been focussing on volume and cost of production, while reducing the customer value. They are maintaining a policy which focuses on quantity rather than quality. In order to attain specific changes in the demand pattern for their product, a new policy was generated in the economy which would create the value for the product through its design (Girod and Whittington 2016). Samsung created a design strategy to be implemented in their company, that would give the company a new identity and a new scope for economic growth of the company. they generated a tear of design revolution for the Samsung group. the workers of the industry were send to different companies related o furniture manufacturing, cosmetics, fashion industries, etc. where the people were employed for a span of six months to two years. this helped reemployed to think out of the box. on their return, the employed were able to come up with new ideas that would help in framing the design strategy of the company. Samsung created world class design infrastructure that helped in improving the capabilities of the company by including designing labs, research centres and improved technologies in manufacturing their products. In order to implement the design strategy plan, Samsung had to break free itself from the traditional beliefs of the people and the country. Traditional belief had created a boundary to the thinking capacity of the people, which had led to a considerable fall in the growth of the organization (Whittington 2015). Moreover, designing products for the international market, seeks those employees who are free at thought and has moved outside of the country. In order to maintain the communication plan and understanding between the engineers and the designers of the country, one year programme has been generated to facilitate the same. Samsung has seen stark difference in their growth level since the adoption of the design strategy that they have completed. This strategy has now made the company reach to those success levels, which has made it reach the highest rank in developing the best design strategy. Samsung Strategies Related to the Theories of Richard Whittington Richard Whittington had framed the understanding of strategy in four ways. The concept of strategy has been used by all the companies in order to raise their standard. According to Richard Whittington, there are namely four kinds of strategies that are followed by an organization to upgrade their development level. These four strategies are classical strategy , processual strategy, evolutionary strategy and systemic strategy (Yin 2013). Here, classical and evolutionary approaches aim at achieving profit for the company, by implementing those strategies. On the other hand, evolutionary and systemic strategy aims at achieving other possible outcomes, than only seeking profit for the organization. Samsung has been implementing various strategies, in order to gain their market share and expansion in business . These operational strategies that have been framed by the company, could be related with the theoretical strategies framed by Richard Whittington (Heizer, Render and Munson 2016). The two theoretical approaches aligned with the strategies framed by Samsung are classical and evolutionary. Classical Approach according to the classical approach , the classicists frame a strategy which would use the resources of the company in such an efficient manner, that would earn great returns for the company (Ward and Peppard 2016). The top managers of the company , needs to frame such an efficient strategy that would aim at maximising the profits of the organization. The classical approach is considered as the most stable approach for mature companies that aim at gaining stability in their productivity levels. The strategy under this approach is planned, framed, formulated and controlled by the top managers or the owners of the firm. Samsung performs the classical approach of strategy making by implementing the design strategy approach for achieving comparative advantage globally. It aims at efficiently using the resources of production, thereby raising the efficiency of production. The employees are made to analyse the situation of design strategy by making them think out of the box. The people were made to join various other organizations related to the furniture manufacturing, cosmetic industries, fashion industries, for a certain period of time. This gave them the advantage of raising their knowledge in designing better models of 6he products. After joining the company, the employees had better developed ideas, which they would not come up with earlier. All the decisions to be taken regarding the design strategy were planned, framed, and controlled by the owners and the top managers of the organization (Whittington 2014). This gave them the authority to maintain equal and strict approach in the company, there by not compromising with the strategy change to be implemented. The employees had to break themselves free from the old traditional and Confucius believes that were held within the country. The design strategy were followed by such individuals that had never travelled to faraway places. In order to design a product to be marketed internationally, needs such employees who are diverse in cultural beliefs and are ready to gain knowledge regarding the cultures and beliefs of the other countries (Johnson et al. 2013). Samsung aims at raising the communicative approach between the designs of the product model and the engineers by planning a one year programme, which aims at planning a full time six days a week classes for the employees. All the strategies mentioned above, aims at focussing on the classical approach theory as stated by Richard Whittington. This has helped Samsung in gaining the appreciated growth which makes the company gain comparative advantage internationally. Evolutionary Approach - according to the evolutionary approach mentioned by Richard Whittington, economic environment is continuously changing (Slack 2015). This change in the economic environment, aims at survival o the fittest in order to maximize the profit of the organization. As the markets are unpredictable in nature, it is considered by the evolutionist that in order to survive in the market, there must b a raise in the profitability and in the efficiency of the company to perform. They aim at keeping their costs low , raise the efficiency of production and keep various options open. In order to compete with the other companies, it is quite important for the referred company to analyse the situation and raise the stability of their survival in the market. Evolutionists believe that framing a product by maintaining differentiation from the others, would help in yielding higher profits and stability in economic growth. Samsungs strategy of achieving comparative advantage globally. Samsung mad various research labs, improvement in technologies, collaboration with other companies, and use of advantageous cost effective techniques, to lower their cost of production. they designed a better process of the delivery system. at first, Samsung modified the product creation process. the company had lack of interaction with the engineers, marketers ad the designer of the company. Samsung has planned to provide their customers with real benefits. they launched hybrid products with the combination facilities of two products together into one, that would help in providing the customers with the best facilities in one product. this strategy is completely related to the theories of Richard Whittington. following the evolutionist theoretical strategies Samsung aims at achieving the profitability and stability in their approaches. With their powerless performance many years back, Samsung had to implement various strategies which could help in providing them with an approach to change their current scenario. This was only possible by providing an innovation to the company. Focussing on quality rather than quantity was one of the most important approach for the organization. By implementing the design strategy , Samsung has helped itself in raising the standards of the company, thereby focussing in attaining stability in the market. The strategies framed by the company is relatable to the theories stated by Richard Whittington. These strategies have created the current image of the company, which has exceeded its competitors and raised its par with respect to market share, profit margin and productivity. Confusing Terms In Authorship - The Writers For Hire

CONFUSING TERMS IN AUTHORSHIP You glance at the cover of the memoir you are reading, and realize that the author of the book is not exactly clear. There is a name on the bottom, but below that there is yet another name. So, what does it all mean? In the process of creating content for a book, there is frequently more than one person who contributes to the writing. The way these people are credited on the final product varies, depending on author preference and the level of involvement they had in the book’s creation. To set things straight, we have come up with a list of confusing terms, and what they mean. Author: This is the person responsible for the creation of the book. They supply the overall ideas and stories for the book. This is also the person who frequently (but not always) will do the majority of the writing for the book. Most often, then name of the author is clearly stated somewhere on the front cover of the book. Writer: This is the person who takes all of the ideas for the book, and turns those ideas into the written content that becomes a book. Sometimes the writer and author are the same person, other times they are not. Ghostwriter: A ghostwriter is a writer who is hired by the author to turn their ideas and stories into actual written content. Frequently the ghostwriter’s identity remains anonymous, as does the fact that a ghostwriter was even used. The ghostwriter flies under the radar, and credit for the book goes to the author. Co-Author or Collaborator: These are people who bring additional story ideas and research into the book. They collaborate with the author to conceptualize (and frequently write) the content for a book. Occasionally, a ghostwriter will be credited on a book and referred to as a co-author or collaborator. Editor: This is the person who reviews the writing and makes sure that the style and format is consistent throughout. They also make sure that the content flows well, and does not leave any gaps or areas of confusion. Editors will also frequently suggest changes to make the story better and more marketable. Co-Editor: This is the editor’s partner-in-crime. They support the editor, and help with all of the functions involved with editing a book. Proofreader: Once the final content has been written and edited, this is the person who takes a fine-toothed comb through it and makes sure that it is free of any grammatical, spelling, or typographical errors. This is the person who is responsible for making sure that the final product is ready to go to print. Pen Name: Also called a nom de plume or a pseudonym, a pen name is an assumed name used by an author, in place of their own name. There are numerous reasons why an author may choose to use a pen name. To find out more, check out our blog on pen names and the famous authors who use them.

Study of Rhetorical Techniques and Proposition 8 essays

Study of Rhetorical Techniques and Proposition 8 essays In the November 2008 United States election cycle, the state of California had Proposition 8 on the ballot. This was in response to the state legalizing gay marriage through the judicial system. After the legalization of the practice, opponents of gay marriage were able to put Proposition 8 on the ballot in an attempt to overturn the court ruling. Ultimately they were successful, but not without millions of dollars in campaign advertising. This paper will examine the main advertisement named, 'Gathering Storm'. This ad was shown throughout the state, and in retrospect seems to have turned the tide of the Proposition 8 battle, helping enormously to swing voters in favor of banning marriage between two members of the same sex. The advertisement itself was, like many political ads, targeting a wide demographic of 'swing voters', voters who historically can fall on either side of an issue. It was played at prime time on regular rotation, but appeared to target a cross section of the population consisting of young to middle age professionals. The producers of the ad also seemed to be acutely aware of the wide range of diversity within California by making sure that all racial demographics had a speaking role in the ad. It is possible that this is an intentional choice by the creators of the ad as well, seeing as how the opponents of Proposition 8 often countered arguments by portraying the supporters as bigots who were attempting to limit human freedoms. As the ad opens, an attractive white woman in business attire begins by saying, "There's a storm gathering." In the background you can see ominous clouds swirling mightily behind her. The music is of an ominous nature, implying a dangerous situation. The camera then cuts to a wider angle, showing a mix of people standing in a desert with the same clouds behind them. It is worth noting at this point that California has deserts, and the most famous one of them to the locals is known ...

Reading Response from a Piece of Writing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Reading Response from a Piece of Writing - Essay Example The two purposes are similar because they indicate that pausing occurs whenever there is an end in a tone and the start of another. Indeed, the author doesn’t need to elaborate the reasons separately. They should be in one paragraph. The author gives the relevant basis of how you can measure the speaking speed. He argues that speed is the number of units per unit time. He presents his interpersonal arguments on the best methods to use for measuring the speed of speech. In the text, he analyses the strengths and weaknesses of using either the word or syllable in the measurement of speed. In this way, readers can understand both methods despite the limitations and assumptions. Linking pausing and speech speed to learning serves the pedagogical purpose of teaching or training. From the text and author’s arguments you can see that the aspect of learning how to apply the two phonetic components, you can deliver a good speech to learners. The text gives an insight of the rationale behind stressing some syllables or words after pausing, which is a common skill in effective speakers. Intonation is another phonetic aspect discussed in the text. Note that the author introduces the concept of speech stretch in order to explain the application of tonal variations when one is speaking. The phonetic components discussion has prompted my personal experience in the past encounters with the public. During the launching of the new automated home appliance in a national exhibition, he discovered that many people could not get my points clear. It was a hard time because after pausing at some point in my speech the reporter could not increase the tone immediately so as to be clear and explicit. Little did he know that pausing can be applied together with intonations, he would have succeeded in his presentation.

Psychology (Systems and Theories) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Psychology (Systems and Theories) - Essay Example The science acquires knowledge through systematic study of observation, experimentation of an event or a phenomenon of interest. The hypothesis developed which is based on observation is investigated thoroughly by designing and carrying out series of experiments. Then, the experimental results are analyzed and explained in a systematized manner. The conclusions of the result verify the theory proposed related to observed event. Thus, in a scientific research, hypothesis is verified and a theory or the principle of the phenomenon is established. Every psychological research is evaluated as science. The scientific methods are applied to study human behavior to get accurate understanding of past, present and future behavior. The psychology scientifically studies emotional processes related to perception, cognition, personality, behavior and interpersonal relationships. The psychologist scientifically intervenes a particular behavior by playing with the parameters and tries to get expect ed results through predicted behavior. The problems faced are structured according to a particular theory or scientifically acceptable principle. The experiments are designed by manipulating a situation. In the experimental procedures, the individual’s response to a particular condition is observed. The individual’s reaction is a data in scientific terms and is a measure of effect when subjected to a particular cause. The dependable parameters are varied to get set of data which is further analyzed. Likewise, the sample is also exposed to different circumstances to create a databank of situation and responses. Standards and controls as used in scientific research are also used to compare the results in psychological research. The control groups are exposed to neutral condition and sample groups are exposed to manipulated condition. Sometimes double blind studies

Laser beam welding

Laser beam welding Introduction: Laser Beam Welding â€Å"LBW† is a contemporary welding process that is a high energy beam that continues to expand into new industries and new applications because of its advantages like deep welding and reduced heat inputs. Profound Manufacturers sought to automate the welding process caused the expansion of the laser beam welding process to include computers and more sophisticated technology to increase the product quality and more accurate control of the welding process. From More than 20 years ago, when laser welding was in its early life was used primarily for bizarre applications where no other welding process would be suitable. Nowadays, laser welding is an imperative part of the metal toil industry. How It Works: The Focal point is aimed on the work piece surface that will be welded. At the surface the large concentration of light energy is converted into thermal energy. The surface of the work piece starts melting and steps forward through it by surface conductance. For welding process, the beam energy is maintained below the vaporization temperature of the material. In Fig. 1 the laser beam is directed on the work piece. â€Å"To the point that the laser beam contacts the work piece, all the components that direct it are transparent, refractive or reflective, absorbing only small amounts of energy from the ultraviolet light.† The laser power supply is capable of delivering a pulse of light that has accurate and repeatable energy and duration. When the pulse of laser energy is focused into a small spot at the surface of the work piece, the energy density becomes enormous. The light is engrossed by the work piece, causing a keyhole effect as the focused beam drills into, vaporizes and melts some of the metal. As described in fig. 2. As the pulse ends, the liquefied metal around the keyhole flows back in, solidifying and creating a small spot weld, moving the work piece or the laser emitter along the surface of the work piece creates a series or spot weld that is called a â€Å"seam†. Similarities And Differences To Other Welding Processes When compared to other welding processes, laser welding has some similar as well as some unique characteristics Like GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), laser welding is a fusion process performed under inert cover gas, where filler material is most times not added. Like electron beam welding, Laser welding is a high energy density beam process, where energy is targeted directly on the workpiece. Laser differs from both GTAW and EB (electron beam) welding in that it does not require that the workpiece complete an electrical circuit. And since electron beam welding must be performed inside a vacuum chamber, laser welding can almost always offer a cost advantage over EB in both tooling and production pricing. Advantages Of Laser Welding One of the largest advantages that pulsed laser welding offers is the minimal amount of heat that is added during processing. The repeated pulsing of the beam allows for cooling between each spot weld, resulting in a very small heat affected zone. This makes laser welding ideal for thin sections or products that require welding near electronics or glass-to-metal seals. Low heat input, combined with an optical (not electrical) process, also means greater flexibility in tooling design and materials. Industries Served: 1- Aerospace. 2- Defense/military. 3- Electronics. 4- Research development. 5- Medical. 6- Sensors instrumentation. 7- Petrochemical refining. 8- Communications energy. Laser Safety â€Å"Lasers emit a very concentrated beam that can be visible or invisible. In general, most lasers used for welding are invisible. This beam of infrared light could focus onto the skin or eye unless safety precautions are observed. Industrial laser systems are fully interlocked to prevent any danger to operators. Most are equipped with National Center for Devices and Radiological Health covers that contain the actual laser operation, permitting people working nearby to perform normally.† With proper design and careful precautions, laser systems are no more dangerous than other welding systems or similar machine tools.

After School Programs Essay -- Elementary Education Student Activities

After School Programs Many parents today are faced with the issue of after school programs. But are these programs what we really think of them? Are they helping or hurting our children? A lot of parents want their child to be involved in school and/or extra-curricular activities, but don’t want them to be overwhelmed; whereas other parents don’t seem bothered by the effects. This paper included information about after school activities and the effects they play in today’s modern society with children. So, what do these activities do for the children? Do after school activities for children help to enrich their social and physical skills for their life long interests? A school program is defined as â€Å"community driven, expanded learning opportunities that support developmentally appropriate cognitive, social, physical, and emotional outcomes. In addition, these programs will offer a balanced program of academic support, arts and cultural enrichment, recreation and nutrition† (Coltin). These programs can run either directly after school, during evenings, weekends, summer vacations, and holidays. They are run by schools, community based organizations in the school, and community based organizations from a church or synagogue, or a private leader. Since the community and government is so willing to get the students active in these after school programs, there is such a wide variety of different ones. With such a huge selection, it is merely impossible for someone not to find a program that would be right for their children. How Emotions Affect Our Communication Skills Essay

Emotions are a funny thing. Whether or not you’re an ardent believer of emotions make or break a man, I think that lines stands true. Emotions can make us sail in the colors of being so pleasant at one time while another sort of emotion can wreck a man’s image as being barbaric. Just to figure this concept out, I undertook the assignment to see how emotions affect me on a personal communication level. To keep a close watch on my emotions for a few days was a task I was rather excited about! The first ‘official’ emotion I felt according to my journal was of happiness. I had woken up the first day or my college and felt an unbelievable excitement about what the day was going to entail. I got dressed humming my favorite song and off to college I was. Just by feeling a very happy person I knew the day was going to be an amazing one. Obviously, when you’re beaming with the joy, nothing can possibly bring you down. I was shocked at confidence I felt when I was content in my own skin. I greeted new people, in the new atmosphere and basically made quite a few friends. The whole day I felt like I was an energy ball and I was willing to sit in the front row of class, not afraid to listen and question the teacher. I actually thought that my positive energy sent out great vibes to the others also as they were not hesitant in carrying the conversation along with me. And the teachers were more than eager to answer my inquisitiveness. That only made me happier. I took part in a debate the next day. Not an official one but a sort of an unofficial debate with some college students at the local cafeteria. The debate was about ‘Terrorism can’t be uprooted at the expense of Civilian lives†. The talk was about a controversial topic and I was one of the few people who were agreeing with the topic. I soon realized that the people on the opposite team were talking purely without any reasoning. That registered another feeling in me†¦the bad feeling†¦of anger. I saw my enthusiasm evaporating and being replaced by mild irritation. In my mind I kept wondering how people could think so wrong. Before I had a chance to speak out, some of the debaters concluded the debate and childishly dances around thinking they had won. I was furious. That is the exact emotion I had put down in my journal. But that is when somebody out of the â€Å"against the topic† crowd came up to me and acknowledged my views on the subject. She seemed like someone I could talk to because she sort of â€Å"had my back† per say. She was willing to sit there and listen to me view. She nodded as I spoke and later on told me how I had managed to erase the wrong views from her mind. I was overwhelmed. Someone’s sincerity had cleared up my earlier anger. I felt like I could trust that girl. She became my good friend instantly because when the trust factor plays its positive role, the communication takes another height. I talked to her freely throughout the day and I was amazed to find out we just connected on a very high level. I had found somebody I could trust(Meyer, 2002). I wasn’t sure what the next big emotion I would feel until I got a call from my uncle in telling me he wasn’t coming to visit me and my family due some issues with his business. He had been planning his visit from South Africa since the last 2 years. His whole family was supposed to come and stay with us for a month. I felt dejected. After he had told me the news, I phoned my parents to talk to them about the sadness but understood his reasoning. They were as disappointed as I was so we talked about how much we miss him. I communicated freely with my mother who explained to me that perhaps we could go and visit him. It made feel lighter if not better. That day when I came into contact with my college fellows, I wasn’t the usual cheery girl as I always had been. The communication skills that day were strained, I realized. I didn’t really talk to anyone more than the usual greetings. As soon as my friend from the debating group came to me, I knew she could transgress the limits I had set around myself that day. And so she did. Just because with her I felt a bond of trust, I confessed everything to her when she probed why I looked so down. I leaned on her and she stood by me trying to be a good friend. By analyzing my emotions led communication skills, I can conclude that they have a major part in our everyday lives. Knowing how to control emotions is a bigger task though because emotions don’t always allow us to think clearly. Whatever we feel, we ought to keep it in tight check and be realistic about it.
